Summer Cocktail Series Featuring Kari Alleman Woodell: The Ms. Pepperberry

Johnny’s Pizza GM Matt Shelnut.

One of my most favorite aspects of working at Johnny’s is the fact that we are a “team”. The next cocktail I have the privilege of sharing with all y’all comes straight from the beautiful mind of our GM Matt Shelnut.

Shelnut,  as he is known around these parts, is Johnny’s. This extremely driven, talented, charismatic, and calming fellow with the 100 watt smile is also a hometown hero. Grayson High School, class of 2006 and GSU, 2010. Shelnut has traveled the world, mostly by foot and pack, and he’s brought back a wealth of culinary knowledge and epicurious excitement that is absolutely infectious.

To know him is to love him. To be lucky enough to taste his creation… well, you’ll be hooked for life!

So it is with great honor I give you Shelnut’s cocktail – the second in our series – THE “MS. PEPPERBERRY”!

Meet Ms. Pepperberry.

Meet Ms. Pepperberry.

Guys, remember that one teacher you had when you were a kid?  She was the loveliest woman in your life.  She was encouraging and made you feel special.  Mom was nice too, but this woman was the light of your dreary Mondays; partly because of her sweet nature, but also because she was soooooo HOT!

That’s Ms. Pepperberry.

This drink teems with sweet cranberry accented perfectly with some fresh mint.  Then just a touch of heat from garden fresh jalapeños really gets things going.

  • 2  oz Vodka
  • Muddled fresh mint and Jalapenos
  • Cranberry Juice
  • Shaken rigorously with ice
  • Strained and served in a chilled glass

You’ll never forget Ms. Pepperberry.

Kari Alleman Woodell is a Southern Californian transplant that has called the Snellville/Grayson area home since 6th grade. A mother and a daughter, she’s the local girl next door that absolutely enjoys good eats, drinks, and friends. She just celebrated her 1 year anniversary with Johnny’s Pizza in Grayson. She wanted to share this with our readers about her time here in Grayson and at Johnny’s Pizza: “I have truly bloomed where I’ve been planted. Our relaxed and fun dinning atmosphere allows all patrons from the toddler to 100yrs old a wonderful place to break bread with family, friends, or both. Oh and as always, feel free to come alone. I’ll chat you up and trust me no one ever leaves my bar a stranger. I look forward to the opportunity to shake things up for y’all. Once again, my name is Kari (car-e) and my occupation is making cocktails people, what isn’t there to love!”
