Summer Cocktail Series Featuring Kari Alleman Woodell: Iced Blackberry Bourbon Sweet Tea

On sweltering summer evenings when the sunsets behind the trees Iced Blackberry Bourbon Sweet Tea is a good answer to the day’s conclusion. The sweetness of the berries, the soothing fresh aroma of mint, and the mysterious background of tea with bourbon is something not to be missed.

While Bourbon whiskey is most often enjoyed either straight up or over ice; I knew I wanted to make a cocktail that everyone could enjoy. I chose to make a Blackberry infused Bourbon Tea because I knew a super sweet girly girl cocktail would just be a waste. The tartness of some blackberries and a bit of mint, lemon and sugar (to taste) would really allow the bourbon to be forward and present with each sip; however,  not so much so as to take away from the relaxed simplicity of the drink itself.

*3 cups blackberries
*1 bottle of bourbon of choice
*freshly brewed black tea of choice
*fresh lemons
*fresh mint (for taste & garnish)
Method :
1.start by combining blackberries and the bourbon in a clean and resealable container.
*we let ours infuse for several days; however, at home, you could muddle/smash the blackberries and the double strain through the bourbon, let stand in refrigerator for 2 hours and then proceed.
2. once bourbon is done with it’s magic, pour over ice in glass off glass with tea of choice  (sweet or non)
* option: freshly squeeze 1/2 lemon to tea and bourbon mixture in glass.
* option: add a couple mint sprigs
4. garnish with a couple of fresh blackberries and a mint leaf.

Smile big & enjoy!

NOW drink-up, and thank me later 😉
