Police seek information on Bay Creek Park shooting

On October 6, 2015, at approximately 9PM, Gwinnett County Police received a request to contact a citizen over the phone regarding a shooting that was witnessed earlier that night at Bay Creek Park. The witness said that he was playing basketball when he witnessed a physical altercation take place between three males. During the altercation, two of the three males began shoving each other which led to a fight. During the fight, one of the males produced a gun. As one of the males began to run away, the gun was fired. A portion of the incident was captured on a cell phone video camera.

At this point, police have not identified a victim or the suspects involved in the shooting. Everyone involved fled the scene and there is no reason to believe that anyone was struck by the gunfire. This was an isolated incident that was not gang related. Detectives have recently established very credible leads regarding the participants of the shooting. Police have initiated an increase in patrols both day and night at the park and within the surrounding area. Police will continue the high visibility patrol to ensure that the safety of the park is maintained.
