New Grayson Area Friends of Lacrosse organization launches

Grayson_Lacrosse_Logo_1_copyA new local organization hoping to raise awareness and participation in the sport of lacrosse recently launched in the Grayson community. The Grayson Area Friends of Lacrosse hopes to capitalize on the rising popularity of the sport in and around Grayson.

“We are committed to giving Grayson-area youth high-quality opportunities to join the fastest growing sport in the country,” said Andy Durham, GAFOL’s Executive Director.

The organization is a partnership between the Grayson Athletic Association (GAA), Grayson High School Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Teams, and the GAA ‘Lax Factory’ travel team program.

Durham added, “Our long-term goal is to have Grayson be known nationally as a premier area for lacrosse player development.”

Through volunteer chaired committees, GAFOL will:

  • Promote overall interest in lacrosse through community events and communication
  • Provide player and coach development opportunities
  • Encourage parental involvement
  • Support new families in getting into the sport
  • Coordinate an equipment drive to defray the cost for new players

GAFOL will host a community information session on Sunday, December 6th at 6pm – 7:30pm at Johnny’s New York Style Pizza (2023 Grayson Highway, Grayson, GA 30017). Community members are invited to drop in to meet the GAFOL committee members, ask any questions they may have, and find out how to get involved.
