Michelle Finley: Confident, Classic Fashion for Anyone

mfinleyHow many of you hate the daily questions like “what’s for dinner?” and “what do I wear today?”

Annoying right? Because, right after we’ve gone to the store and spent hundreds of dollars, we can’t figure out anything for dinner!  And though we go into our closets and they are full, we simply have nothing to wear!

When dinner gets boring, we seek out new recipes to spice things up.  Often with the ingredients we already have waiting in the pantry.  So why not do this with your closet?  Chances are you have just what you need or you may lack one or two “ingredients” to put together that perfect outfit!

My name is Michelle Finley, nicknamed “Fancy” and “Sparkles” because of my love for fashion and desire to dress up for any and all occasions. Early in life I developed a love for shoes! It’s no secret, I have a couple of pairs – I’ve always thought that no matter my current body weight, shoes always fit nicely and never made my butt look big. I also think that investing in your shoes as a cornerstone to your wardrobe is like having a nice yard at your home. It can make or break the look. I enjoy the latest trends but admit to centering my fashion choices on the classics.

I have a few guidelines when it comes to fashion:

1.) Don’t put an age on fashion.  Though I’m not trying to look 17, I don’t want to limit my choices by eliminating styles just because society says I’m “too old”.  If you feel confident and you stay classy, you can hardly ever go wrong.

2.)“Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.” When I entered the working world at the age of 18 I quickly learned to treat every day as an “interview” day, because we are constantly making first impressions in our daily lives.

3.) You CAN wear leather, sequins and fur (or fake fur if you choose).  So many friends have told me over time, “That looks so nice, I could never wear that.” But I always believed they could! They motivated me to venture into the world of fashion and fashion blogging, to help show my friends and others just how fun it can be if you let it!

mfinley2I would love to have an endless budget and someone else’s credit card, but I do live in the real world.  Shopping the “Fine-spun” items on a budget can be really fun.  Instead of looking at it like a tedious task to find something appropriate to wear to that next function, I like to look at it as an art!

So my passion is creating different outfits from one simple piece. For example; a little black dress or a stylish moto vest.  I enjoy seeing just how many different ways I can put an outfit together. I also wanted to help people see the value in “investment” pieces, putting your money into the classic pieces that will last for years to come.  We can then add trendy pieces to make the outfit stand out! Trends can be intimidating but I enjoy helping people “tweak” the trend to suit their body type and tastes.

Everyone has positive features. Maybe it’s your skinny waist, or long legs. I can help you highlight those positives with fashion. My goals are that everyone feels beautiful; short or tall, small or big and that we find those exquisite pieces to help us achieve that feeling…on a budget!

Follow along on my adventures in fashion and send me your challenges and I’ll help you meet them head on!
