Lightning causes Loganville house fire

Firefighters were on the scene of a house fire in the 160 block of Garden Manor Court in Loganville last night.  Crews found heavy flames showing from the garage and second floor of a two-story wood frame house on arrival.

Neighbors called 9-1-1 and reported a vehicle (SUV) on fire in the driveway that was quickly spread to the garage.  Firefighters deployed attack hose lines to control the blaze and protect exposed homes on both sides of the burning house.

There was no one at the house at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.  The fire caused heavy damage to the original house and the vehicle in the driveway.

A neighboring house (to the left) sustained moderate cosmetic damage to the exterior siding due to radiant heat.  The neighbors were temporarily evacuated in the exposure home until the fire was brought under control next door.

Fire Investigators are working to determine the exact cause and origin of the fire.

EQUIPMENT AT THE SCENE INCLUDES: 3-Engines, 1-Ladder Truck, 1-Squad, 1-Medic Unit, 1-Air & Light Unit, 2-Battalion Chiefs and 1-PIO.
