Hundreds Turn Out for Ramnation Celebration in Park

Despite the frigid temperatures, hundreds of people packed into Grayson Community Park last night to celebrate the state champion Grayson Rams. Beneath the twinkling lights of the City’s Christmas tree, the team was recognized for their thrilling 23-20 victory over Roswell in the 7A GHSA title game.

The evening was emceed by Randy Benson, the voice of the Rams, and featured several community leaders.

Mayor Allison Wilkerson commended the team and its coaches on the fantastic season. For only the third time in the City’s history, Mayor Wilkerson presented a key to the City to Coach Jeff Herron, who led the Rams to the title in his first year.

Grayson High School principal Dana Pugh addressed the crowd, thanking them for their support of the team.

“Grayson has been, is, and will always be a city of winners,” Pugh read from prepared remarks.

GHS Athletic Director Brian DeBerry also addressed the crowd to thank them.

Dozens of players and cheerleaders huddled under the large pavilion during the ceremony. The Grayson Rams Marching Band serenaded the assembled crowd with songs as parents and students gathered together for warmth.
