As the school year winds down and thoughts turn toward graduation and summer, let’s take a moment to celebrate some of the wonderful things Grayson students achieved this year. Robert O’Keefe, who helps with DECA at Grayson High School, sent out a press release congratulating those GHS students who participated in the Internationsl DECA competition.
Last week, Grayson DECA Chapter members competed at International Competition in Orlando, FL. Over 18,000 competitors from all 50 states, as well as, Canada, China, Spain, Mexico, Korea, Guam and Puerto Rico, came together in real world, authentic marketing events such as presentations, marketing research events and business plans. The average event had over 200 student competition teams each, and the judges for these events were actual business executives from all over the US.
I’m proud to report that Grayson DECA members represented Grayson and the state of Georgia extremely well! We had 2 Top Ten medal winners and 7 Certificate of Excellence winners! Our team had a .700 batting average! The International Certificates of Excellence means that the student met or exceeded every performance standard for International level competition and scored in the top 20%. This was a great experience and result for Grayson DECA. These students are:
Top Ten Medal Winners
5th place – Emma Harrison – Entrepreneurship Innovation Event (Stroll A
8th place – Candice Graham – Entrepreneurship Participating Franchise Event
International Certificate of Excellence Winners
Sarah Grimmett – International Business Plan Event (J’Adore Shoe Store)

Hannah Armistead – International Business Plan Event (J’Adore Shoe Store)

O’Keefe also added, “I would also like to recognize Alviez Chagan, Visaysha Harris and Jesslyann Rodrigues who also competed, and Deanna Figueiredo and Caroline Stephens who attended leadership academies. All our students represented Grayson and the state of Georgia in an excellent manner in both participation and deportment. Please congratulate them.”
Congrats to all of the Grayson High DECA students for all they’ve achieved this year!
