Grayson Friday Night Series – All Around The Town Part 3: Hail Mary’s Pub

Rain, again.  I’ve decided that this Friday night series is destined to be plagued by rain and I just need to embrace it.  April showers bring May flowers and all that fun, for me to survive it I just needed to invest in an umbrella (check!).  This weeks adventures brought me to the Hail Mary’s Pub, as I mentioned in an earlier post last weekend.  Although the weatherman prevailed on to be correct in his forecast, we didn’t let that stop our table of four from heading out.

Hail Mary’s is closer to Johnny’s than Graft is as far as atmosphere goes – the restaurant is all around you, but the bar area is where all the cool kids are.  This time I was traveling in with MY cool kids, so we stuck to a table nearby.  They loaded up on cheese fries and bacon, while I scoped out the crowd so I could share a little Friday night fun with all of you.

Hail Mary’s was the perfect spot to brighten up our dreary Friday night – brightly lit signs, sports memorabilia and banners fill the space, providing plenty to look and talk about.  If you’re a sports fan and not hanging out here, you’re really missing out.  From football to hockey, this place has you covered.  Definitely stop in and take a second to really look at the amazing plethora of sports enthusiasm filling the place, that ALONE is worth the trip.

I didn’t get to get as close to where all the action was as I usually would, but its clear to see that the patrons at Hail Mary’s are all good friends and definitely here to stay.  The highboy tabletops were all full, as was the bar, with smiling and conversating locals. It’s a familiar crowd, and one that comes back again and again to enjoy great friends and a few good drinks after what was probably a long week.  I need to come clean here and say that I’ve been to Hail Mary’s on a Friday  night before, so some of this is “insider knowledge”.  …and by insider knowledge, I just mean I’ve been here before and talked to some of these fun and friendly people, not that I’m a super-cool insider by any stretch of the imagination.  Although I’m not opposed to people thinking I am, in fact, a cool “insider” type.

The only thing that made me sad was the less-than-ideal patio weather.  Hail Mary’s boasts a large, beautiful patio that just screams “Come hang out with me”.  I wanted to come hang out, but mother nature just yelled back “NO!”.  Again, I feel like I’m cheating because I’m speaking from previous experience, but the patio is seriously where it’s at.  A warm summer night at Hail Mary’s promises you it will be full of local, friendly Graysonites enjoying a few cocktails (and maybe some of those loaded fries) outside.  Just talking about it makes me sad.  I want to have a drink on that patio.  And some loaded fries… don’t judge me.

Although I didn’t get close to the action, I still did get to talk to a group of old friends that told me all about The Children’s Fund, an amazing charity where 100% of the proceeds go directly to Grayson Children in need.  If you missed that piece last weekend, you can click [here] to catch up.

Hail Marys is a family-friendly pub that couples an amazing sports environment with a patio that just screams summer and hanging out with friends.  If you haven’t checked it out yet, or somehow managed to miss what makes this place a must-stop on your list, than I encourage you to stop by and hang out with a few very friendly locals.  And no, you don’t need to wait for it to stop raining, just make sure you go back again once it finally STOPS!
