Grayson, Archer named AP Honor Schools in 5 of 6 categories

Ever take an AP class?

They’re not easy. You have to read. You have to take notes. You have to study.

And the AP exams? Lord have mercy.

That’s why the announcement that Grayson High School and Archer High School were two of three Gwinnett County high schools to be named an AP Honor School in more than one category is such a big deal. It’s not like either school was named an honor school in one or two categories – the schools were recognized in all five categories for which they were eligible. The only other school to match their achievement was Norcross High School.

All twenty-one of Gwinnett’s high schools were recognized as an AP Honor School in at least one category, and the entire Gwinnett system was named as the 2017 AP School District of the Year for large Districts by the College Board, which oversees the AP program as well as the SATs.

There are six categories set by the College Board: Challenge, Access and Support, Merit, STEM, STEM Achievement, and Humanities. A school’s honors are determined by their overall scores on the 2016 exam results.

Congratulations to the students, teachers and staff of our local high schools for their fantastic achievements!
