Staying close to home this spring break? The 79th annual Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park is right around the corner and if there was something worth taking a trip to Atlanta for, this should make the list. My 3 favorite “F’s” are well represented here… Fun, Family and FREE! There are a few events that are fee-based but just as many that have a $0 price tag. Either way, its well worth the trip!
Every year I take that 45min trek to enjoy the perfect spring day where there is a little something for everyone. So lets break down WHY the trip is so worth it:
The Hungry Type? Backyard BBQ & Brews
Yeah, I said it. BBQ. And Brews.
Cliff notes version…. craft beers, wine, barbeque and activities like cornhole will be front and center at this popular event. Who hates a spring day filled with BBQ, brews and games? No-one. This particular activity is ticketed, so I would click [here] to check out what is still available.
The Healthy Type? Atlanta Dogwood Festival 5k
The pre-qualifier for the AJC Peachtree Road Race starts at 8am Saturday, April 11th. you can click [here] to learn more. Just think of how less guilty you’ll feel enjoying BBQ and Brews after a nice healthy run 🙂
The Family Type?
The festival kicks off with Family Friday, April 10th from noon-10pm. Tickets are $10 and a wristband is an additional $10 and buys you unlimited rides and fun all night long! Family friendly entertainment is available on the main stage.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday you and the kids can check out the Disc Dog Southern National Qualifier Tournament – FREE! Click [here] to check out the tournament times and, if you can, check out the Doggie Freestyle Jam session Sunday before the awards.
The kids village runs all 3 days so if you miss Family Friday, don’t stress. There are PLENTLY of family events packed throughout the entire festival.
The Artsy Type?
If you love art, then this is the festival for YOU! Whether you’re buying or appreciating, there are a ton of amazing artists to check out. The art portion of the Dogwood Festival is really the main attraction, so stroll through and take a peek!
3 solid days of FREE concerts. Is there anything else I need to add here? Check out the lineup on the main stage [here].
As if all that wasn’t enough Piedmont Park itself is pretty spectacular with beautiful city views. If you’re not a BBQ or food truck fan, Park Tavern is right on the edge of the park and offers both outdoor and indoor seating. One of my favorite Atlanta spots, hands down.
