Brooks anthem at Braves game leads to Road Atlanta gig

The one non-rainy night this week turned out to be a great opportunity for Grayson resident Ryan Brooks. Brooks performed the National Anthem to open the April 14th Gwinnett Braves game, but it was what happened after the game that made the evening so memorable.

“I just got a random phone call,” Brooks posted on Facebook. “I’ve been asked to sing the National Anthem at Road Atlanta this weekend for the MotoAmerica motorcycle race this weekend.”

The MotoAmerica race series runs April 17-19. According to Road Atlanta’s website, fans “can enjoy two-wheeled racing as competitors from across the globe showcase their talent through Road Atlanta’s twisty turns and steep elevation.”

Brooks will perform the National Anthem on Sunday, April 19th at 11:00 AM, kicking off the day’s racing schedule. He said officials at Road Atlanta were happy to extend the invitation, based on a recommendation.

“The Gwinnett Braves recommended me!” he wrote. “Pretty cool!”

Additionally, Brooks was asked by the Atlanta Braves organization to submit a video performance for consideration.

For friends and family who might be interested in hearing one of Grayson’s own do our city proud (or who might just want to see motorcycles go zoom), tickets for the MotoAmerica event are on sale via the Road Atlanta website.
