Body of man missing since Jan. 1 found in Tribble Mill lake

Gwinnett County Police issued a statement today that a body they believe to be Yun Seoung Park was found in the lake at Tribble Mill Park today. Mr. Park was the subject of a missing person alert after going missing around 1:30PM on New Year’s Day.

Here’s the press release from GCPD:

On Wednesday, January 3, a vehicle was located by a fisherman in the lake at Tribble Mill Park (2125 Tribble Mill Parkway, unincorporated Lawrenceville). Officers and Detectives responded and it was determined that the vehicle found in the lake belonged to [Yun Seoung] Park. The vehicle was recovered from the lake shortly thereafter.

Immediately after his vehicle was located, officers began a ground search and a Gwinnett Police helicopter was called in to conduct an air search. (The license plate on the car was removed by officers, and the damage to the vehicle occurred during recovery.)

On Friday, January 5, the Hall County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team and Rangers from the Department of Natural Resources searched the lake at Tribble Mill Park and a body was found. The body was recovered from within the water in close proximity to where the vehicle was recovered.

Although we believe it to be the body of Mr. Park, we are waiting on confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of death will have to be determined by the Medical Examiner. The family has been notified of our findings.

There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.
