The backhoes and bulldozers have been busy at the corner of Herring Road and Highway 20 for the last few weeks, moving dirt and clearing trees.

No, it’s not Chick-fil-A.

Dang it.

Mayor Allison Wilkerson announced during last evening’s Meet & Greet at the Senior Center that Benton House would develop the 8-acres into a senior living and personal care facility. The company recently added Grayson to their list of facilities.

Construction will begin soon, though there is no completion date set.

According to the Benton House website, the facility will be “A place of warmth decorated with fine furnishings, stunning artwork and, more often than not, the scent of something delicious baking in the kitchen. A place where independence thrives but help is only a call way. A place where you are always like family.”

The Benton House is the second senior care facility for Grayson, and a third is on potentially on the way near Starling Elementary.
