3rd annual “Christmas in Grayson” a huge success (Photos)

If Ebenezer Scrooge had only lived in Grayson, he might not have needed a visit from the three spirits.

Yesterday, hundreds of people from the Grayson community turned out for the City’s third annual “Christmas in Grayson” event, ushering in the Christmas season with joy, cheer, and a winking alpaca. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free s’mores, free hot chocolate, free cupcakes, free cookies, free crafts, and lots of other freebies, all courtesy of the City and the amazing organizations and businesses that call Grayson home. The evening was capped with the annual lighting of Grayson’s Christmas tree.

Grayson Mayor Allison Wilkerson gave a shout out on Facebook to everyone involved:

Once again… I am the luckiest Mayor in the world! The 3rd Annual Christmas in Grayson Festival was the best yet! Over 800 s’mores were roasted thank you Chris Banks and Tom M Wages Funeral Services, 360 cupcakes were decorated with help of the Miss Grayson Queens, 565 cookies and 30 pounds of icing were courtesy of the GHS Culinary School with Chef Matt, A new addition this year was a Caricature artist who drew for over 4 hours and captured great personalities who along with the 800 cups of hot chocolate were both from Paul Nieman and 12 Stone Grayson with help from the Grayson Coffee House and Allison Long Grier. Who know how many faces were painted by AHS FCCLA (Jackie Brooks Emmons) & hair was crazied from the GHS Cheerleaders (Joanna Root) That doesn’t count the to numerous laps to count of the North Pole Express courtesy of PPI (Carla Terrell Carraway) the constant jumps in the bounce houses donated from Anchor Church, pony rides or time in the petting zoo! If that wasn’t enough thank you Mark Williams for the newest addition of your tonka truck and red wagon. Meghan Beard Schroder and Meredith Allen Chastain were the busiest all night making sure every child had a chance to see and spend time with Santa. I can’t wait to hear how many pictures they took. It was a great evening and it is all possible because of TEAM GRAYSON!! Laura Towles Cone, Laurie Willis Anderson, Ken Anderson, Gail Lane, Heather Hosch, Nicholas Moff, Jon Paul, Ned Lane, David Schroder the several hundreds I have left out! To the 7 schools and 2 Churches that kept the stage full all night with music and dance, thank you! Of course the stage is all because of the City of Snellville and Bobby Howard! We can never say thank you enough! Y’all are the best!

Merry Christmas, Grayson!
